delivery receipts only when email sent to inbox?

Is it possible to still receive a delivery receipt when the email I sent went into intended recepient's spam folder?

Or, is a delivery receipt means I can every confidence that the email was indeed sent to the Inbox?

Thanks
Steve

Answer

No, its not good to assume a delivery reciept means it hit the inbox.

Delivery receipts are responded to by the mail server - not all support returning delivery receipts. If you get one, it means the message hit the server. What happened to it after that is unknown.

Read receipts are only returned if the user reads or deletes unread the message - and only if their email client supports it. Receipts may be returned when they empty spam - or not. It depends on their settings.

I would not rely on the absence or presence of either type of receipt to mean anything - I can return deleted unread ones, even when i have read the message. :)
