Retrieving Chat History from MSN Messenger

Hi Microsoft Team/MSN Team and others,

Is there any possible way for me to retrieve my old MSN chats and the e-mail addresses of people I used to speak with through the Messenger?  This would truly mean a lot to me, as I need access to that information for legal purposes and for helping out somebody close to me.  I have the older laptop through which I used to use Messenger on, but had it factory reset a few months ago, so I don't think I can recover any files from it.  Is there anybody I can contact or anybody on the Microsoft team that can help recover the information I'm looking for?  Is there anyone or any place somebody can refer me to for assistance with this issue?

Hi,

If you did not create a backup of the messages, it would be near impossible as MSN Messenger was retired several years ago. Messages would have been purged from the system.

You might try using Recuva or another recovery software available.
