One of the MSN ads is generating spyware/adware pop-up

Both my Mum and Wife have now experienced this. If you leave a browser with MSN open then at some point you get a new page with the messages. This in both cases has been the only thing open in the browser.(IE.11). I think one of the ads is triggering this.

If you can't close your browser in a normal way: Open Task Manager (press Ctrl + Shift + Esc on your keyboard) and in the tab Processes end all browser processes. Make sure to not restore the browser session.

A good ad blocker should prevent these fake warnings/alerts. Tracking blockers help too.

I use Firefox and have the free extensions uBlock Origin and Ghostery.

Some time ago

RodrigoLode(MSFT) from the Microsoft MSN Engineering team looked into all those fake pop-ups. See the thread here.

Nothing really came out of it. You still might want to report those pop ups directly in MSN by clicking on the small Feedback thing, see screenshot:
