An update is available for the Groove app on Windows 10 / version 3.6.1382.0

A new release is available today for the Groove app on Windows 10. Check the Store! This release (version 3.6.1382.0) includes the following:

For desktop:

  • The app remembers the state of the hamburger across sessions (i.e. if you collapse it, it will stay collapsed across sessions).

For mobile:

  • You can now search for Artists within the app.
  • Fans reported that album art didn't properly show album art for FLAC files. We fixed that.
  • Added a manual sync option to Settings.
  • Select/unselect all now available when in selection mode.
  • New layout in the album detail page banner to allow you to read more of the details for your favorite albums.
  • Now you can navigate to the album page from the context menu for songs.
  • The modules in Explore and artist detail pages load from top to bottom to make the experience smoother.

Please continue making your feedback known in the Windows Feedback app, in store reviews, and elsewhere on the Internet. We’re listening!

Thank you for your continued support,

The Groove Team

I'm sad that so far I can't simple sort my colection by Recently Added!!
When we have hundreds of álbuns is impossible to manage what was added on phone!!

And, I can't accept that Álbuns in the Artist page are not in the Released Date order!! It's a trivial thing!! If an artist have 20 albuns released when I open their page I want to see the newest one first!!

Some feedback for this update (Mobile):

It seems to have improved Bluetooth Audio meta data to my car console. Appropriate values for song position and song length are now supplied. Great! However, it continuously moves between great metadata and no metadata. On my car, this looks like the "good metadata", then "unavailable" and no timestamps at all, and back and forth. Other apps across the OS, such as Pandora, still think songs last 30 minutes to an hour. I imagine there's still some OS stuff to do here, but the progress is evident.

I do notice that my car console (Mazda 3 2015) still cannot see the root menu to select songs stored on my phone / are exposed by Groove. In Windows 8.1 this was possible. I'm hoping this makes it in the initial release. On the bright side, my car no longer shows the "scan" button as if it my phone were some kind of radio, so again progress is evident.

Keep it up!

Hello,

Not really pretty but atm I'm using Files&Folders Pro to get a sort on "latest" . (Lumia 830 / 64Go SD)

About "sort by release date" aka "year" for instance is a cheap implementation if it is in the IDv2/3 meta tags it should be shown easily . My files are perfectly tagged and every date is up and showing in Core Player for instance.

I wouldn't worry.

Rgds

Sorry, Ellen, but Groove still has far too many bugs in it for me.

You say that you've fixed the issue that the mobile app didn't properly show album art for FLAC files. I assume that you are still working on this issue in the PC version, because it is still present there.

Here's a screenshot of FLAC albums; you will note that not all are showing album art:

Some of them are single disc albums (e.g. The Art of Farinelli and Alpine Symphony). It seems that multi-disc FLAC albums will always fail (e.g. 2011- Director's Cut). Worse, the track listings are not sorted into disc order:

Note also that "Aerial" is a 2-disc FLAC album, which appears to be showing album art correctly. However, if I open it, I discover the reason why: Groove thinks it is a single disc album, and has completely failed to index the first disc (the track listing shown is of disc 2):

This failure to index library collections has been reported long ago, and is still not fixed in this version. I currently have 995 albums containing 12,746 songs in my collection held on my Windows Home Server 2011. I have four PCs all running Groove, and none of them ever show the complete collection. Worse, they keep losing the library, and start rebuilding it over and over again. The current state of play is:

PC1: 274 albums (it was 777 albums an hour ago)

PC2: 542 albums (it was 721 albums an hour ago)

PC3: 0 albums (it was 820 albums an hour ago)

PC4: 920 albums (it was 907 albums an hour ago)

Groove is still beta software as far as I can see. I certainly can't rely on it to be my go-to music app.
