Unable to permanently sort columns within SharePoint document libraries linked to Team channels

Hi,

I have a Microsoft Team set up. I have linked a SharePoint document library to my Team channel. However, when I navigate through the document library - my documents are always sorted by last 'modified'. I am able to click on the 'name' column heading to  sort by A-Z, however this resets when I navigate to a different folder or open a document.

Is there a way to permanently sort 'name' by A-Z? I have modified the document library's sort options within SharePoint - however, it does not seem to carry over to Teams.

Thanks for the help!

Hi,

I'm Nik, an independent advisor here to assist you with this.

You could try to filter the column by modifying/create a SharePoint view option.

I hope this will be helpful.

Hi Nik,

Thanks for suggesting this. I can confirm that I have got a filter on the SharePoint document library. It appears the filter is not transferred to the UI of the linked SharePoint library within Teams.

Hi Brady,

Could you please check what view is selected by default in MS teams when you open the document library? Is it the same that you have updated?

Regards
Nik

Hi Nik,

The default view within MS Teams is sorted by 'modified' (see screenshot 1)

Within the SharePoint document library I have created a custom sort called 'Correct_V1' (see screenshot 2)

The custom sort is set up to sort the columns by ascending name (see screenshot 3)

Hi Brady,

If I follow your screenshot correctly, I see that put a sending sort filter on Name.
I see that Name column is in ascending order. Am I missing anything here?

Nik

Hi Nik,

The sort function works within SharePoint. However, it does not work when I link the SharePoint library to MS Teams.

Hi Brady,

I see what the issue by default Name column gets three different versions. When you are applying a filter ensure that you are choosing column "Name(linked to document with edit menu)" and apply.

I hope this will fix the issue.

Nik

Hi Nik,

I'm afraid this did not work. My SharePoint library is sorted correctly. However, the sorting has not transferred over to the Teams linked SharePoint library.
