Text enters backwards in Teams chat

It's a hotkey in teams.

I get this too, for no obvious reason. As with the original poster, this is not a Ctrl-Shift issue, and I can't get that to work changing text direction in Teams. I have a feeling that it sometimes happens when I start entering text before Teams is fully ready for me to do so. My fix is restarting Teams. Can be annoying.

I get this periodically too and found that I click on another chat and return to the original chat it fixes itself.

I find it sometimes happens if I enter some text, then highlight the text, then try to type over it, expecting the highlighted text to be deleted. instead, it starts typing backwards. deleting the text seems to work to reset and go back to normal.

This has been happening to me on the browser version windows app the last few days. It might be a coincidence, but each time its happened, I am trying to type when the person on the other end of the chat is also typing. What seems to fix it is clicking somewhere else or going to another screen and coming back. I have not taken the time to confirm exactly the steps to resolve, its more like because the typing becomes dysfunctional, I naturally abandon the chat and try to communicate another way, and then it tends to be back to normal when I come back.

Just had this happen to me for the first time.

Found another answers forum from 4 years ago that also does not appear to have an answer:

It only happened for a couple of minutes. the issue only appeared in the chat window I had open, it did not happen in the search filed at the top.

I did not try navigating away to a different chat.

One of my co-workers has uninstalled and reinstalled and hasn't seen it, but the frequency between their experiences, we cannot say the issue has been resolved with just this.

I haven't been able to recreate this with any button combinations that have been suggested or that I have been able to find.

It may be an unknown button combination, right before I started typing I did hit a couple of buttons on accident, may be completely unrelated.

i think you're on to something with both people typing at the same time. it happened again to me and i think it was when we were both typing at the same time
