Special character does not work in Teams Chat

I am not sure and cannot find the answer to the question in the subject line, so I thought to ask the community.

I found a list of ALT-# that provides me the capability to show special characters.  The codes work fine in Word, OneNote, but they do not come up the same way in Teams Chat.  Why is that and how can I get a list of insertable ALT codes?

Hi JHinOC,

Thanks for post your question in our forum. Regarding the ALT codes you mentioned, I did some researches and I‘d like to confirm whether you are referring to insert special code, for example the "euro sign", you can insert this symbol by pressing and holding the ALT key and type “0” “1” “2” “8” in Word client but this doesn't work in Teams chat?

If so, I just tested this on my side and this works correctly for me in both Teams desktop client and web-based Teams APP, please see below picture:

Given this situation, please make sure to update your Teams client to the latest version. To doing so, click on your profile picture in Teams and click the option "Check for updates".

Moreover, to narrow down this issue, please login to Teams web APP to see if it works in there.

Feel free to post back if I have misunderstood your concerns and to help you better, please provide some examples of how do you use the ALT code in Word and capture a screenshoot of your Teams client version and share the screenshoot with us for analysis.
