REAL high quality audio and video??

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to significantly improve my setup for remote meetings on MS Teams. I’m willing to invest in a high-quality shotgun microphone and a camera with a teleprompter to elevate my presence during meetings (I often have many participants in the “meeting room”).

My home office is quiet, so I can bypass noise reduction, but I’ve noticed that Teams’ audio transmission quality seems limited, even with a high-end microphone.

Here’s my setup and considerations:

1. Audio: I want to make the most of a top-tier shotgun mic. How can I ensure that MS Teams transmits the best possible audio fidelity? Is there any way to optimize or bypass Teams’ audio processing?

2. Video: I plan to use a high-quality camera and teleprompter for maintaining eye contact and sharp image quality. Any tips to optimize the video side of things in Teams?

3. Internet: My ISP provides stable, low-latency service, but I haven’t tested the connection route to MS Teams servers. Would optimizing this route make a noticeable difference?

I’d appreciate any tips or suggestions to ensure my audio and video quality is the best it can be for professional meetings.

Thanks in advance!

Dear Jean Baro,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Based on your description, I understand that you you're really committed to enhancing your remote meeting setup. Here are some tips to help you optimize your audio, video, and internet connection for Microsoft Teams:

1. Audio Optimization

To make the most of your high-quality shotgun microphone, you can enable High-fidelity music mode in Teams. This mode is designed to transmit audio at a higher quality, which can be beneficial even for speech, Experience high-fidelity audio in Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Community Hub. Here’s how to enable it, refer to Set up your microphone - Microsoft Support. During a meeting, you can also click the music note icon at the top of the meeting window to enable this mode.

2. Video Optimization

For the best video quality with your high-quality camera and teleprompter:

  • Before joining a meeting, go to Settings > Devices and select your camera. Adjust the settings for optimal resolution and frame rate if your camera software allows it.

  • Ensure you have good lighting. Soft, direct light on your face can significantly improve video quality. Avoid backlighting.

  • Use a plain background or one of Teams' virtual backgrounds to reduce distractions.

3. Internet Connection Optimization

Optimizing your internet connection route to MS Teams servers can indeed make a noticeable difference:

  • Use tools like the Network Assessment Tool to test your connection to Office 365 endpoints. This can help identify any issues with latency, jitter, or packet loss.

  • Ensure your network is configured to prioritize Teams traffic. This includes setting up Quality of Service (QoS) rules and ensuring your firewall and proxy settings are optimized for Teams.

  • If possible, use direct routing to minimize the number of hops between your network and Microsoft’s global network.

By following these tips, you should be able to significantly enhance your audio and video quality during Teams meetings. If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask!

Please let me know if you have any other questions and I will be happy to reply.

Sincerely~
