Pausing screenshare in Teams meeting

Hello, I'm a trainer and give day long trainings that are broken up by participants doing activities. During that time I'd like to "Freeze" my screen, so they see whatever was on my screen before I froze it. That allows me then to go about my business without them seeing what I'm doing. I know I could stop sharing my screen, but that disrupts the continuity of the training. And if I leave it just on, then I can't do anything on that screen/then a screen is wasted. Finally, I'm also aware that I could switch to share a different application, however it seems like I need to stop sharing first before I can share again (which again is disruptive to the training). Do you have any function that would allow me to freeze/pause the shared screen?

Hi

My name is Daniel. I am an Independent Advisor and consumer of Microsoft products, I will be more than happy to help you.

I'm afraid to tell you unfortunately this is the current limitation of MS Team as of the moment, so you still need to stop screen sharing then start screen sharing again to switch your screen. I think this is indeed a good idea to be considered by the developer team.

I invite you to submit a feature request or suggestions for improvements to the developer team: https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/

Kind Regards
I'm an independent advisor. I'm not a Microsoft staff.

Can someone at Microsoft please look into it. Its frustrating to stop and then reshare the screen. Pausing screen share is extremely useful when you want to search for something in-between the meeting or do an unrelated activity while presenting. Losing the flow (for the attendees) while presenting is not a good option. Why is this so hard to roll out ?

Hi Daniel,

I found at least 13 different feature requests on this topic. Is there a way to bring them all together to show how many people are actually suffering from the lack of this basic feature?

Thanks!

Screen pausing is the single biggest issue causing us to NOT use Teams for presenting.  Please..."make it so" !

Our entire sales & presales team wants us to keep a license of GoToMeeting b/c this feature alone is missing.   So if you are doing a software demo and you run into an issue (error message or forgot to enter data into the screen and need to configure something on the fly)... you don't want to keep stop sharing & start sharing b/c the audience will see the interruptions.

Between different messaging boards (including the link above) this feature has been requested over 2000 times (1044 times as of this writing on the link above alone).  Could Microsoft chime in to let us know if this is going to be on the roadmap?  Thanks.

Zoom has this option and it's so useful that I've already switched 4 lessons from teams to zoom. When teams has this, I might go back to teams.

I cant' move from Zoom to teams for this reason. I use it when I have line speed issues and am doing a demo as I freeze the screen and talk from that and unfreeze to display the next screen. During a team meeting if I'm displaying my screen, I'll freeze it during the conversation if I want to bring up a document that's relevant to the conversation so others don't see me fishing around my files looking for the information. I use it as a presenter to cue up the next application.

This feature is critical and I can't move my clients to teams presentations without it. At this point I'm not moving my internal team meetings to teams because of this lack of functionality.

The company I work for recently moved from Webex to MS Teams and this limitation is wildly apparent. There are some other features that would be useful as well - namely, a better UX for in-meeting controls while sharing. Switching screens to the Teams app while sharing, just to check the chat, etc. means that, at some point, everyone is looking at themselves. It's quite frustrating. Please embed better features in the share screen menu, including chat and pause.
