MS Teams error message c02901df

Hi

Our organisation is experiencing repeated crashes with the Teams App. We are running the app on Windows 10 machines.

The app is reporting the error code c02901df on the 'Sorry we've run into an issue' screen.

During the problem the app in some instances is also displaying messages saying 'No internet - reconnect' or 'We ran into a problem. Reconnecting.....' whilst the machine does have an internet connection (ad we can actually use the browser version of Teams whilst the app is failing to connect).

I have a log file that I can send to you or paste in here.

Thanks,

Nick

Hi

My name is Daniel. I am an Independent Advisor and consumer of Microsoft products, I will be more than happy to help you.

I wonder whether you are experiencing the same issue when using MS Teams online.

Please follow these steps below to isolate the issue:
1. Please go to your computer then open your chrome or edge browser as recommended browsers to access MS Teams online.
2. Please go to MS Teams online https://teams.microsoft.com
3. The try to log in.

Are you experiencing the same issue when you are using MS Teams online from your computer?

Kind Regards

Thank you Daniel, yes we can use the online version successfully.

Please can you tell me if the online version of Teams has any less functionality than the app? We have been informed that the app has more features and functionality. Is that indeed the case?

There are a few features you can't use in MS Team online such as blurring the background, using a wide gallery view (see up to 49 participants on the screen) but other than that the features are the same as the desktop app.

Having said that, Could you please follow these steps below to reset MS Teams app :
- Close Microsoft Teams (Check out if appears in the Windows toolbar and close it).
- Copy and paste following path Windows File Explorer:
%appdata%\Microsoft\Teams
- Delete all contents in that folder > Re-start Microsoft Teams.

However, if the problem still persists then please reinstall MS Teams Desktop app by downloading the app from the following link:

Hi,

We are a French company with more or less 3000 users arround the world.

We have exactly the same problem here. The problem appears randomly among a large part of our users. We are in Windows 10 1803 with the latest version of Teams. We have checked and rechecked our web filtering and firewall settings, everything is configured correctly.

The only thing that works for us today is to delete the Microsoft account registered on the PC and then reconnect this account.

This fixes the problem temporarily, because in reality the problem appears again some time later.

Have you found a more durable and easily implemented solution with hundreds of users?

I will be happy to discuss this issue with you to try to move forward.

Hi,

We were on 1803 as well. The solution was to move to 2004. It immediately resolved all the Teams 'connectivity' issues we were experiencing.

FYI 1803 was due to be end of life in Nov but MS have extended their support for a further 6 months. See here for the release and support schedules.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-information/

I hope this is helpful. We looked into everything here (networks, filtering, Teams cache etc) but this 'simple' solution was the answer for us.

Thank you very much for your answer !

We will try to update Windows on a sample of users, I will tell you if it worked.

We are working on upgrading to version 1909 and it is true that people who are in est for this version don't seem to have the problem.

I keep you informed, thank you again !
