MS Teams Calendar "Show As" (Free/Busy)

Hello - I'm working on a team calendar at the moment within MS Teams and I noticed that there's no option for "Show As" to determine if each appointment will be free/busy/elsewhere, etc. This is making it difficult to have key deadlines added to the calendar as a full-day event because each one will automatically be showing on everyone's outlook availablility as all-day busy. Is there any way to edit "Show As" within MS Teams before sending appointments? It's definitely tedious for each user to have to go in after the fact in their Outlook calendar to adjust those items to show as Free.

Hi egirouar,
You'll need to create it in outlook if you want to set them as free.

Thanks for the reply, Diane - I recognize that I can use that functionality in Outlook, however, this is for events where we'll be meeting in MS Teams channels and want to use that functionality in MS Teams.

Unfortunately it is not an option in Teams.

I have a similar request below. Does anyone know if this is on the roadmap for Microsoft? When I took the training for Teams from Microsoft, they said they don't use Outlook, just Teams. I don't understand how this is possible for meetings in Teams with so many "standard" features missing.

Here is my use case:

I scheduled a tentative meeting using Outlook and it shows in my Teams calendar. How do I change that to "Busy" using Teams like you can in Outlook? The meeting is with myself to work on a project. I set these up as tentative in case people needed to schedule over it. Now I want to block off the time so it cannot be scheduled over. The only way I see to do this is to open Outlook.

A general comment is that the calendar features in Teams are so lacking that I always use Outlook. I want to use Teams more, but things like the above, not have meeting attachments, not seeing meeting categories, etc. make the Teams calendar unusable for managing time.

The "Show As" flag would help as well for our use case.

We are using an Org-wide Teams calendar to record PTO. Users have to tweak the representation of the Teams calendar meeting that shows up in their Outlook calendar to "Out of office", otherwise their colleagues won't know they are out of office when scheduling meetings. Also, if they delete the meeting from Outlook it does not alter the primary Teams meeting.

MSFT - please fast track this feature and consider a tighter integration of the resulting Outlook entry.

Agreed with the comments made above -- it would really help to have the ability to mark a Team calendar item as "Free" if it is automatically integrated with Outlook, so the User doesn't have to manually change to "Free" on their own calendar.

You should put this in as a feature request and then link to that from this thread.

Definitely agree.

Come one Microsoft, stop putting effort in glory features like presenter overlays in PowerPoint Live and focus on some base functionality. Features like this should be quick wins.
