Microsoft Teams screen sharing during meeting

Good afternoon all,

When I try sharing my screen during a Teams Meeting, my screen goes bright red (see below).

The attendees of the meeting can see the screen that I want to share, but I can only see the red screen.

It is impossible to 'get out' of the red screen because it does not react to any mouse clicking or keyboard typing.

The only way to 'delete' the red screen is if another attendee shares their screen or when everybody leaves the meeting.

The weird thing is that it does not happen all the time, only most of the time, which means (I think) that the display screen works but it is a setting or something in Teams?

What do you think?

Could someone please help because I have been struggling with this for more than 3 months and I nobody knows.

Many thanks

Hi Ghislaine,

My name is Didi. I'm happy to help you today.

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. You may try clearing the Teams cache using the instructions below and see if there's any difference.

1. If Teams is still running, right-click the Teams icon in the taskbar, and then select Quit.
2. Open the Run dialog box by pressing the Windows logo key +R.
3. In the Run dialog box, enter %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams, and then select OK.
4. Delete all files and folders in the %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams directory.
5. Restart Teams.

If it still fails, try running the MS Team app in compatibility mode. You may follow the steps below.

1. Right-click the MS Team icon on the taskbar then select Quit.
2. Then, right-click the MS Team icon on the desktop > select Properties.
3. Under the compatibility tab, check the "Run this program in compatibility mode for" option then select Windows 8 from the dropdown list.
4. Click 'Apply'

Hi Didi,

Quick question if you don't mind?

I have to clear the cache every time before presenting?

If I don't do that I get the red screen again.

Is that correct?

Is that what you expected?

Many thanks again!

Best regards

Hi Didi,

I check the same issue on a pc running Windows 10 v.21H2, dual 24" monitors, and I've cleared the cache too. I am able to screen share one monitor once, screen share the second monitor, but when I try to share the first monitor again...that's when I get the red screen on both monitors. The interesting thing, the other Teams users can still see the shared content. Just me the host, sees the red screens.

I am too facing the same issue. If I restart my machine I am able to share just once. Second time it turns red
