Microsoft Teams - Error message "We're still setting up your team, you can change your picture when we're done." when attempting to change team picture.

I set up 2 new teams and I am attempting to change their pictures using the "Manage team" option.  I am using the Teams client on a Windows 10, 64 bit PC.  When I click on the pencil icon in the lower right corner of the current picture, I get the change picture pop-up screen with the error message shown in the subject.  Screenshot:

When I hover over either option, "Upload picture" or "Delete", the cursor turns to a red circle with the diagonal red line.  I am not able to get past this point.  I created these teams 2 days ago and all previously created teams work fine.  It is just these 2 created recently.  Rebooted with no success.  Can anyone help me fix this?  I have found no help by searching.

Hi JAM_1963,

To identify if the issue is related to the Teams client, please try changing the pictures via https://teams.microsoft.com/

You may also update the Teams client to check if the issue can be fixed.

If the issue persists, please create a new Team via website and change the picture.

Let me know the result after you perform all above.

Thanks,

Lance

Changing the picture using  https://teams.microsoft.com/ yielded the same error.

I am not able to find a way to update Teams.  If you could tell me how?

Creating a new Team via website or client works fine.

Thanks for your help.

Hi JAM_1963,

Thanks for your reply. For further help, please provide the version for your Teams client (Click the lower left corner for your profile->about->version) for further analysis.  About updating Microsoft Teams, the latest version for Microsoft Teams is 1.0.00.28451 (64-bit). If your client is not the latest version, please go to Microsoft Teams client: click the lower left corner for your profile->check for updates.

If you didn’t find “Check for updates”, please try to uninstall teams and go to here to download and reinstall Microsoft Teams. During my test, I can change the picture Microsoft Teams client. Please try again after you updated Microsoft Teams client to the latest version.

If this issue persist, please go to Microsoft Teams web site to change the picture, then sign out and sign in back to see whether picture has be changed.

Regards,

Richard

I had to same issue and found a workaround to upload a team picture.

  1. Add a new user to your team as an owner
  2. Ask him/her to upload the image using the Windows client - (web client didn't work)
  3. Remove the owner again

Hope this helps,

Robert

Thanks all for the replies.  I am running the latest version 1.0.00.28451 (64-bit).  I noticed today that the team picture for the 2 teams that were giving me this problem changed from a picture of a "1" and "2" to the first 2 letters of the Team name.  Now I am able to upload a picture so it is suddenly working as it should.  The version was updated on 10/18 which was 2 days before my original post.  Not sure what happened but it seems OK now.

Thanks
