Microsoft teams application freezing with Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset

accessory center.desktop bridge.device service.exe freezing MS teams application.

When I use the Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset 8JR-00001 with MS Teams call it freezes the MS teams application. I unplug the USB receiver that it comes with then re-plug it into the computer then it works. I have tried the following as a work around:

When I got to the Microsoft accessory center I reset the headset to factory default and it resolves some of issues that were reported.

The other fix I have found is to connect the headset via Bluetooth

please let me know if anyone else has had this issue.

I am starting to look at this application : accessory center.desktop bridge.device service.exe
to see if this has something to do with this.

What has not worked is : removing MS teams and clearing out all folders that have files after the uninstall of the MS teams APP.
I opened a new box and got a new headset and that still didnt work.
*******************************************************************************UPDATE Aug 2023*******************************************************
For my environment the issue has now gone away with Microsoft sending the update to our tenant. For each user that was using the work around (Bluetooth or a different brand of headset) the dongle is now working once again. If your org still is having issue please open a formal ticket using with the Admin for of the Microsoft Teams. Then I would refer them to this thread for support.

thanks for helping guys

In addition to the instances already mentioned, we have also noticed freezing can be induced in some instances just by adjusting the headset volume.

Yea, nevermind. End-users reported issues after a few days.

Same issue.

We've a few users using bluetooth adapters with the headset, seems to be working better with ASUS USB Bluetooth adapter so far.

But this is not a fix, just a work around.

So with that stated, most likely some plug & play driver issues with the microsoft wireless USB adapter.

I have received an update from Microsoft, they have now acknowledge the issue and are investigating (see snippet from email below)

"We have involved the Product Group team to investigate on this issue. Multiple tenants have been impacted by these issues; thus product group teams are prioritizing to this issue, but it might take some time.

I will keep you posted regarding the updates once we receive from the product group team."

Has a solution been found to this? We also have been experiencing this same issue. Are they even aware that this is an issue?

We are experiencing this same issue in our organization with 30-50 users.

The only work around we’ve found is to use Bluetooth. However, our desktops don’t have Bluetooth so the temporary fix is to continue to unplug and replug the dongle.

The bluetooth workaround works - sort of. Teams still hangs when answering a call, it just doesn't hang for as long and most of the time I can get the call answered in ten seconds or so.

But - I also have a Plantronics wired headset that works pretty great - it's as fast as my MS Modern Headset used to be, the answer call button works (it doesn't work with MS headset and bluetooth) and the coolest part is that I can control which headset I use with the power switch on the MS headset. When I turn on the MS headset Teams uses it and when I turn it off it switches back to the wired headset.

I still want a fix, though :)
