Issue " Looking for new message"

I don't receive any messages on the main screen but only on pop up.

On the main screen there is the following error :

"Looking for new messages"

When I receive the message I can't see it on the main screen but I have to open the pop up.

Thanks for your post in our forum.

About the problem you encountered, may I confirm if this issue happens when useing Teams desktop client? 

If so, please open the InPrivate window of your browser, then try to sign into Teams web APP: https://teams.microsoft.com with your account to see if you can receive and see the chat message from the main window in there. 

Moreover, about the issue in the Teams desktop client, you may try following steps to clear the Teams caches to see if this will help to fix this issue for you:

For Windows users: 

1. Open Windows File Explorer and type %appdata%\Microsoft\teams. Then delete the following files. As a side note, you can move the files to another place to avoid the data loss.

a. In Application Cache > Cache folder, delete all files in it.

b. In Blob_storage folder, delete all files.

c. In Cache folder, delete all files.

d. In databases folder, delete all files.

e. In GPUCache folder, delete all files.

f. In IndexedDB folder, delete the .db file.

g. In Local Storage folder, delete all files.

h. In tmp folder, delete all files. 

For Mac user:

Navigate to the following folder in your Mac and then delete them and try to again to see if it helps.

~/Library/Caches/com.microsoft.teams 

~/Library/Caches/com.microsoft.teams.shipit 

~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams

To narrow down this issue and help you further, we need to confirm following information with you:

1. Do other users in your organization also have this issue?

2. Please send us a screenshoot of the error message “Looking for new message” for analysis.

3. Does this issue happen to all contacts or just a specific contact?

Many thanks for your prompt reply and share the picture with us. May I confirm if you have checked if there is the same issue in the Teams web app: https://teams.microsoft.com/?

If there is the same issue in the web side, you may try to connect to a different and faster network environment or temporarily disable the Antivirus to see if this will make any difference.

Moreover, to further investigate this issue in Teams desktop client, please kindly refer to this article to collect the Debug logs and send the debug log to us via Private Message (PM) at your earlist convenience.

In addition, to narrow down this issue, may I know the answer of the first and third questions I mentioned in my last reply?

I have encountered the same issue and sometimes it has fixed itself.

As a workaround I found that the pop up chat box works when the main chat box still shows the 'Looking for new messages'.

Is there any resolution to this "Looking For new messages..."?  I have this occurring in the Main window and on the Web Site both.

Pop out windows were working ok but after removing clearing all cache files and reinstalling the desktop app now POP Up window chats don't work.  I have to read incoming messages on my phone and send on the desktop App or Website that do not display new messages.

Like I said I tried to

-Remove Teams App

-Delete Cache files mentioned in earlier post

-reinstall App

I have a 100mbs down and 5mbs up cable internet connection at home and at the office speed unknown but occurs in both locations.

Please help with this it is really annoying.

I'm having the same problem.

Only happens with one contact.

I've tried internet explorer / edge / chrome - private browser - even reinstalling windows.

This specific contact and I have deleted a few messages back and forth because of work related stuff... so it must be some weird sync issue.

The only place I don't see the issue is using Teams on my android phone.

This has been happening for a month and it's very frustrating.

Same for me, problem occurs only with a specific contact after deleting a lot of private chat messages.

No problem on the app phone, already deleted the cache a lot of time, and installed again the full application on the computer.
