I am using Teams as a teacher. I have a team for each class I teach. I have created home pages for each team. When I select a team however they always opens on the General channel. Is there a way to get each team to open on the team homepage instead?

Yes, there is a way to get each team to open on the team homepage instead of the General channel. Here are the steps:
a. Open the team that you want to change.
b. Click on the three dots in the top right corner of the screen.
c. Select "Settings."
d. In the "Settings" window, scroll down to the "General" section.
e. Under "When opening this team," select "Open on the team homepage."
f. Click "Save."
g. Once you have completed these steps, the team will now open on the team homepage instead of the General channel.

I apologize for the confusion, The steps I provided are for the web version of Microsoft Teams. If you are using the Teams app on your computer or mobile device, the steps are slightly different.
To get a team to open on its homepage in the Teams app:
a. Open the team that you want to change.
b. Tap the three dots in the top right corner of the screen.
c. Select "More options."
d. Select "Settings."
e. In the "Settings" window, scroll down to the "General" section.
f. Under "When opening this team," select "Open on the team homepage."
g. Tap "Save."
h. Once you have completed these steps, the team will now open on the team homepage instead of the General channel.

There is currently no way to set Teams to open on the team homepage by default. The only way to do it is manually, as described in the previous messages.
Microsoft is aware of this request and is working on a way to make it possible to set Teams to open on the team homepage by default. However, there is no ETA for when this feature will be released. I hope you can understand.

Thanks for this however I get as far as General and then there is no option for "when opening this team".
Can you please help?
It seems bazaar to have a homepage you cannot default to...this would definitely be the place I'd want the students to open to; it will cause confusion.

At this time, the default page is the General channel and according to the feedback team, this functionality is still on the backlog.
You may upvote this requested feature at the following feedback portal link.
