how do I change my reaction/emoji skin colour

Is it really true I cannot customise reaction/emoji skin colour easily in MS Teams? Rather I must use a PC keyboard shortcut to thumbs up something in non-yellow?

When will this be rectified by Microsoft?

Hi Lia,

My name is Didi. Let me help you.

It is possible to customize skin color in both Teams desktop and mobile apps. If you're using the mobile app (with a newer version of Teams) and have selected the People icon, select and long-press the emoji then choose the skin color you want to use.

May I know if you've tried it already?

Best regards,

Hi Didi,

thanks for your reply, I am using Microsoft Teams Version 1.5.00.2, and am using a windows desktop. I have tried to hold down with the Left-click on the icon and I do not have any options available.

Thanks,

Lia

Hello Lia,

I apologize if my response didn't help. Have you tried right-clicking instead of left-clicking to see the options if you're using the desktop app?

Thank you for your patience.

Hi Didi,

yes I've tried both and nothing comes up. If I am hovering on a conversation and would like to add a reaction, the reaction bar appears, if I then hover or select the reaction (say thumbs up) then hold the right or left click there are no options (except copy).

Thanks,

Lia

Hello Lia,

I'm afraid if it's the reaction to a message, the options to customize it won't come up.

The icons will only appear when we type a reply from the message box.

There is an existing request for the addition of this feature and I invite you to upvote it at the following feedback portal link:

Thank you very much for your patience.

Months later and still no updates to be more inclusive. This is incredibly disheartening.

Hi All,

I'm having the same issue. Saw this response on another Microsoft Answers thread and lots of peeps upvoted it:

..... there is a work around that I found while in the chat box, press the "Windows-key + ;" and you get an emoji box, on people tab, you can change the skin color, but that's not a default change.
