Can't sign in to my Teams account with new Microsoft account email/login

I signed up for the free version of Teams (for my own company) with my old email account that was used as login for Microsoft account. I updated my Microsoft account with my new email address.

Now when I log in to Teams it won't let me log in with the new email address/account. It says

Once I click Sign In it says

Then when I look up my name under my name under "Manage Org" it still shows with the old email address. I need to use my new/current email address.

How can I update my Teams account to my new email/login without continually getting pushed back to the old email/login?

hi Matt,
You can't change the email address on free accounts.

You can try this - and you might be able to take over as admin.
If there is no official admin for the accounts, if you try to go into the admin panel, it will ask you to update the domain DNS with a TXT record to prove you “own” the domain. Once you do that, you’ll be the admin. Put your actual address at the end then try going to the link.

Hi Diane,

Thanks for your reply. I can't change it but nor can I start again with my new email address so I'm stuck...

I do have an admin for the accounts and I have gone in and deactivated and deleted the free Team subscription but I have to wait 3 days before it actually deletes apparently... I guess I will have to wait 3 days to see if it has worked..?

If you were able to get in and delete the subscription, it should work.

I don't know if it would be better or faster to delete the team and azure AD or if that would cause more problems - I'd wait to see if just deleting the subscription works.
