Cannot add military (.mil) emails to Teams

Hello -

This seems to be a known issue https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msteams/forum/all/military-emails-rejected-when-trying-to-add-guests/ecbc240a-8be2-4ec8-839f-9c4deeae2e55

I can't figure out how this was resolved anybody know how to get around this issue?

I am on Enterprise Teams managed by our IT for a California state agency. They don't have any suggestions at this point except for our collaborators to get a non-.mil email which does not work for our military partners.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hello MarineCyn,

Good day! Hope this finds you well.

May I please verify if you belong to a GCC tenant? Usually, DoD addresses have special security considerations that may prevent them from being invited. In most cases the admin at both ends have to enable external collaboration for their tenants. Collaborate with guests from other Microsoft 365 cloud environments | Microsoft Learn. Please verify with the admin at the .mil end whether this is enabled at their end and try inviting again.

Looking forward to your response.

Best Regards,

Ashraf.

Hi Ashraf-

We definitely have a GCC tenancy. Several other partners have run into this issue and were unable to use MS Teams/Sharepoint as a shared collaboration space because they could not add .mil addresses. Does MS have concrete examples of .mil being able to be added to an MS Teams not hosted with a .mil subscription. We need to know this is possible and has been done successfully before we invest time trouble shooting with our partners or we need to look for alternate solutions for a shared workspace where we can collaborate with our .mil partners.

Thanks,

Cyndi
