Camera brightness in Microsoft Teams

I have a Microsoft Lifecam 3000 that I want to use with Microsoft Teams. The camera, however, is very dark in Teams - something that happens with no other video software. There seems to be no way to adjust the camera brightness in Teams (unlike in Zoom, for example). The old Lifecam Studio software would solve this, I think, but it does not run under Windows 10.

I believe that I'm having the same problem described here.  However, the link you gave for a resolution is if the camera is just not working at all and the resolutions are all designed around getting an app to actually activate your webcam.

In this case, the webcam activates and you can see yourself.  But the brightness is set very low and it doesn't auto adjust or auto adjusts sporadically, sometimes I have to wait 5 minutes or 25 minutes for it to register that it's too dark and correct itself.  If I use other cameras, the default brightness level is usually fine or it auto adjusts the brightness according to the brightness in the room immediately.  The only camera that I have that has this issue with is my Microsoft Lifecam 3000 HD.  And it only happens in Teams.  The camera app works fine and auto adjusts no problem.

Any thoughts on how to get the camera to auto adjust brightness.  Again, the camera does turn on and you can see yourself and so can others in the Teams meeting, but the brightness just doesn't auto adjust or will do so randomly.

I'm having the same problem.  My Microsoft LifeCam Cinema works fine in Skype for Business, but it is very dark in MS Teams.

I just found the solution to this issue.  I tried it out and it works perfect for me.  I had version 5.x of the Microsoft LifeCam drivers.  I downgraded the drive and forced it to use the 4.25 (64bit) driver and it worked fine.

You can find the drivers and more details from here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/skype/forum/skype_win10-skype_callms-skype_audioms/video-too-dark/f80ce3c5-e1de-4cbe-bb4c-70b6fae4e042

Try turning off "3D Viewer" on your "Camera Privacy Settings" in windows. It worked for me.

I never had any issues with my camera on any application (including skype and webex), but with Teams, every call my camera would just be too bright or too dark. Turning off the 3D Viewer function on Camera Privacy Settings fixed the issue.

Hi,

I solved the problem and it is relatively simple.

It seems that for some reason the Microsoft Teams Video engine is shared or is part of Skype Engine, which is why Teams has no option to configure the Camera options.

However, although the camera can work properly on Skype, it is there that we have to access the camera settings, remove the automatic adjustment and adjust the video settings manually.

You will verify that in Teams it will display the correct image.

I hope it helps.

Best regards,

LR
