Printing Problems - Word 2013

I am a UK user who has recently purchased Office 365 Home Premium.  I used to be able to print documents from Office applications, but can no longer do so.

I have checked cables at back of the printer and they seem to be working fine.  Also I have tried printing documents from web and also other word processing packages, and it seems to word OK.   The only software I can't print from is Office.

Any advice to rectify problem gratefully received.

Thanks

Regards

Mark

Windows 8 / Office 2013 / HP printing probem - solution, install OLDER printer driver!

Office 2013 instead.  I am having problems with Excel, Word and Outlook printing to two separate HP laserjet printers, models 1522nf and model 3015.  I can print one file from these applications.  The second file locks up the Excel, Word or Outlook program and the only solution that I have found is to close out of the program.  If I restart my computer, I can then print one file beofre it locks up again.  This only happens with my HP Laserjet Printers.  I have a HP Officejet 8600 printer that does not have any problems printing in Office 2013 Excel, Word or Outlook.   Both of my Laserjet printers will print anything on Internet Exployer or non Office based programs without any issues.  I have downloaded the latest drivers for these printers and looked for any latest updates to Office 2013 and made sure that I had the most recent.

I installed the printer driver Vista version for my HP Laserjet 1522 and that fixed the problem with the Spolling / Cache issue with Office 2013.  Best Buy and HP via phone could not come up with this answer.   Thanks again!

The printer settings are ignored when you print a Word document

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/904805

When you print a Microsoft Word document, the printer settings are ignored. These printer settings include the paper size, the page orientation, and the page margins.

Consider the following scenario. You change the properties of the printer driver to specify paper size, page orientation, or page margins. However, when you print a Word document, its paper size, page orientation, or page margins differ from what you specified in the printer driver properties.

This issue occurs because the Page Setup settings that you specify in your Word document override the settings that you specify in the printer driver properties.

Try a different Printer driver

This link describes how the user solved an Excel crashing problem by switching to an alternate printer driver.

I find it surprising, but it shows how closely Excel (and Word) are tied to the printer and printer driver.

I had faced this issue as the printer driver caused the problem.

In my case,

Fault Module Name: hpz3r5k2.dll caused by the printer Officejet K8600 driver.

It is not compatible with excell 2010 during print preview.

After work out almost 2 weeks, I figured out the solution, found that printer driver Officejet K7100 solved the problem.

At the printer Officejet K8600, I change the driver to Officejet K7100 series.

Voila, no more crash and restarting when using print preview and printing working great.

(You need to download the driver if you don't have it)

Computer No Longer Find Printers - Spooler Won’t Stay On

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080303070902AAX8Ukk

I am running Windows server 2003 and I have two printers connected to the server. Suddenly yesterday for no reason I can discern the computer severed any and all connection to these printers (A Samsung ML-2010 and an HP PSC 2355).

I tried to re- install one of these printers but I got the following message "operation could not be completed" with no explanation. A google search suggested the remedy is go into administrative services and -turn print spooler on -. I did that but it has not worked.

The printers are not recognized by my computer. In fact, I cannot keep the print spooler on no matter what jimmying I do in the services menus.

The problem is not with the drivers, for I have connected that Samsung to my laptop via a USB cable and it prints just fine.

I'm thinking to get another hard drive, dump all my data & programs to it, and try a complete re-install of Windows but one hopes that Terry Stockdale can come up with a more sophisticated "surgical strike" that will make it all better.

Regards,

Al Soroka

I wrote back to Al to tell him to suggest that he do some research in the Services dialog box, looking at the Print 8Spooler and its Dependencies tab. The Dependencies tab shows the other Windows services that must be running in order for that particular service to run. The process is to:

1.     Go to the Services dialog box

2.     (Run > services.msc)

3.     and open the Print Spooler selection.

4.     Check the Dependencies tab to see what's there.

5.     Check the items listed in the Dependencies tab to make sure they're running.

I also suggested another thought. I did a Google search and found this, which could help Al:

Why won't my print spooler stay on?

Intermittent Printer

solve the case of a new multifunction device that works sporadically, sending print jobs into the ether

In hindsight, everything we'd first dismissed had been a key clue, and the postmortem resembled the parlor scene in a mystery novel as we retraced the events. For instance:

  • The DHCP reservation didn't work because the IP was already there, but didn't have a DNS entry for us to see.
  • Most print jobs worked because the Wi-Fi server was farther out in network round-trip times, allowing hard-wired Color Printer to get first dibs on traffic for that IP address.
  • The print server we'd check showed all jobs accepted even if Color Printer never saw them because the device that happened to be using the IP address was ... another print server, one not attached to a printer to mysteriously spit out paper and get our attention.
  • Color Printer lost more jobs when the network was quiet because at those times the warehouse Wi-Fi wasn't as clogged by handheld scanners, allowing the interloping print server a better chance at getting first dibs on the network traffic.
  • There were no error messages about an IP conflict because both devices happened to be printers, not computers that would display a message in that situation.

This is the answer from elsewhere in this Forum, which Shane figured out.  I had the same problem & this worked perfectly for me and many other people.  The question now is when are HP & Microsoft going to fix this bug so users don't have to go into the driver and disable a service.  This is only an work-around and not the ultimate solution to the problem, but at least it will get you printing again...

After lots of testing I have found a setting that has fixed all my HP CP5520 and HP M4555 printers that were crashing when printing from Office 365's 2013 pro plus.

It's the driver setting in Device settings -> Installable options -> Printer Status notification, this needs to be disabled.

I hope this also fixes other peoples problems.

Shane

I there I cant seem to find the printer status notification to disable it. I get to devices then there is nothing that comes up with staus notification. I have windows 8.1 and print to a new Hp. I can get to installable options but it only has one option under that which is to do with duplex printing.

Perhaps you are using a different (possibly newer) printer model? The option mentioned in this thread may have been removed from the printer settings. Have you looked for an updated driver on HP's web site?
