Arial Unicode MS font missing

Erdnussbutter asked on

Hello,

I recently installed Office 365 (2016) and am now facing the problem, that it does not include "Arial Unicode MS" as a font anymore. On my old laptop Office 365 (2013) still did include this font. Because I currently have no access to this laptop, can anyone suggest where I can download this font for free or does Office already include an option to add further fonts automatically or something similar?

It isn't strange at all. When Microsoft included Arial Unicode MS with earlier versions of Office, Microsoft paid a licensing fee to The Monotype Corporation, which is the copyright holder for the font. Someone at Microsoft decided it was no longer worthwhile to continue paying that fee, so it was removed from the Office package. The price you see now is what Fonts.com charges for a single copy.

The "Page cannot be found" is the error. I kept getting that when trying to go to http://www.microsoft.com/typography/fonts/, but if I searched for "Microsoft typography" and clicked on the appropriate link, I would get right to the desired page, with the exact same URL. Now I can't even do that, and if I go to the page I can access (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/Typography/default.aspx) and click on Find fonts, sometimes it takes me to https://www.microsoft.com/typography/fonts/ and sometimes it gives an error. There is definitely something wrong with that site.
