Printer won't print text from a Word docutment however does print image in same document

I am running Windows 10 home and MS Office 365 Version 1710. My printer is Canon MX 922 and is set as default printer. When I copy a document using the copy feature the printer is fine, cartridges have ample ink.

When printing a Word document the text does not print. If the document has an image the image prints. Similarly does not print text from an Excel document.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Bill Shaw

Answer

Hi Bill,

If there are any recent Windows Updates, the printer's driver can become incompatible with the computer. We can do the following to resolve this:

  • Let's run the printer troubleshooter to scan for issues and correct it.
  • When a printer isn't entirely working, check for the printer's driver if there are any updates. Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager. Expand Printers, find your printer in the list, right-click it, then select Update Driver. For more ways to troubleshooter the printer you can check on this link.

As a reference, you can check this article about print failures in Word for earlier versions. It contains steps on how to test print Word.

Let us know how did it go or if you need further help.
