I purchased my new Windows 7 computer a couple months ago, and I've recently realized that the automatic spell check in Word 2010 does not work. I've researched this problem, but none of the suggestions I've found have worked. I've made sure that all the proofing options are checked, so the spell check is technically turned on. I cannot uninstall and reinstall the program as it came pre-installed on my computer, and I wouldn't benefit too much from buying Office 2010 software separately. (Would the program being part of Office 2010 Starter have anything to do with the issue?) I've also tried going into regedit to delete the "override" key in proofing tools, but it doesn't exist. Most forums and support Q&As on this problem relate to Word 2007, but since mine is 2010, none of the solutions I've discovered so far have been effective.
If anyone has a working solution for this problem, I would greatly appreciate it. Otherwise, I will just have to resort to using Word 2003 for all of my documents. Thank you!
