Word 2010 keeps going to File tab on the ribbon

I normally work in the Home tab where all the main formatting bits are.  Since installing Office 2010 in July Word always opened with the Home tab.  Now, since thsi morning, it opens on File tab and when I change to the Home tab to work on the document it goes back to the File tab as soon as I click anywhere on the page.  This makes it almost impossible to work.

I have not changed any settings or options recently.

I suspect it isn't really on the File tab, though it may appear that the File tab is selected because it is a different color. Most likely you have the Ribbon minimized. You can maximize it again by double-clicking any tab, by right-clicking and removing the check by "Minimize the Ribbon," or by pressing Ctrl+F1. You can use the same actions to minimize it.
