Microsoft word audio notes play back

I recorded a teachers lecture on word 2008. When I went to play it back later the audio came out in high speed and fast pitch so that I could not understand it. I downloaded microsoft 2011 and even when I slow down the frequency it still plays back to fast and high pitched. How can I fix this audio note to play back normally?

Answer

It's a little involved, but certainly possible:

  1. In Word, open your document in Notebook Layout View.
  2. Choose Tools>Audio Notes>Export Audio. The track will be exported as an .MP4 audio file.
  3. Download Audacity, a free audio editor from here: Audacity Download
  4. Install Audacity.
  5. Open Audacity, then use File>Open and find your exported audio note.
  6. From the Effect menu, choose Change Speed.
  7. To start, choose either a Speed Multiplier of .66 or a Percent Change of about -33.
  8. Preview the result, then adjust the numbers until you get a natural sound.
  9. Save the result.

Unfortunately, there is no Audio Note import in Word. However, in Word 2011, you can use the Media Browser (Standard toolbar in Print Layout view) to import audio and keep it with your Word file.
