Question

Q: Visio 2010 Error (Error 128) on Save

In Visio 2010, I get the following error in some situations when I'm saving a file

"An error (error 128) occurred during the action Save. This file cannot be opened because it is corrupt."

The error seems to occur when I have a non-empty page, delete this page, and add a new page with the same name as the page that has been deleted before.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Create a new General - Basic Diagram - Metric Units
  • Drag a "Star 5" shape to Page-1
  • Insert a Page (using the "Insert Page" button to the right of the page tabs at the bottom)
  • Drag a "Star 5" shape to Page-2
  • Save and exit
  • Start Visio and load the diagram you have just created
  • Delete Page-2
  • Insert a Page (using the "Insert Page" button to the right of the page tabs at the bottom)
  • Save

I cannot reproduce this error with Visio 2007.

Version of Visio used: Microsoft Visio Premium 2010, Version: 14.0.6023.100 (32-bit)

Answer

A:

That is good info, and I have added your scenario to the logged issue.  I have found two ways to save the file at this point:

  1. Delete the page tab that caused the issue
  2. Rename the page tab that caused the issue

Can your solution use the rename option as a work around in your scenario?

Did this solve your problem?

Sorry this didn't help.
