How to turn off "mobile view" completely

Our intranet is responsive and Msft's  "mobile view" is completely unintelligible, so how do I turn it off so phones bring up the pc view? Clicking the ellipsis is an annoying extra step.

I've asked about this before but didn't get a rational answer..

hi mchv2.0,

to turn off mobile view, you may try the following steps and check the outcome:

open the sharepoint site in the browser>click the gear in the upper right corner of the site> tap site settings.>under site actions, tap manage site features.>set the mobile browser view to deactivate.

if you still can view in mobile view, please switch back to pc view by referring to switch between mobile and full-screen view section in this article.

thanks,

felix

That was already done obviously and doesn't work otherwise I wouldn't be asking here. The article you reference just has the same thing I mentioned above that I'm trying to avoid. Please read the posts before answering..

Hi Mchv2.0,

Have you tried creating a device channel?

Here are the steps.
1. On your SharePoint site go to the site settings.
2. Open Device Channels, it is located under Look and Feel.
3. Add a new item to the list.
4. For all mobile devices fill the Device inclusion rules with: $FallbackMobileUserAgents;
5. Go to the site Settings and open Mater Pages, it is located under Look and Feel.
6. Set your desired master page to show on mobile devices.

Please let us know your updates at your convenience.

Thanks,
Cliff

Why would that be be necessary if I have the mobile view setting off? What does that setting do if not disable the mobile view?

Hi Mchv2.0,

May I confirm the following information to look into the issue?

1. The mobile device, operating system version and browser version you use when experiencing the issue.
2. Have you tried with different browsers and mobile devices?
3. Have you tried on different SharePoint Online sites?

I'll just repeat my questions and perhaps you will answer them:

"Why would that be be necessary if I have the mobile view setting off? What does that setting do if not disable the mobile view? "

Hi Mchv2.0,

After setting up device channels for a site, the mobile view of the default mater page may not take effect as the mater pages set up for the device channels are prior to the default mater page. Therefore, you can also use the device channels to enforce your custom mater page for selected devices.

Besides, you can set up device channels no matter you turn off the mobile view off or not.

Best Regards,
Eric Yang
