SharePoint Treeview filter of a Term Set

Hi pals,

I have a question about how to set up a treeview filter of a term set.

I created a Term Set in the Term Store Management Tool with an import of a .csv file.

The Term Set got two levels of terms. (see image below)

If I am applying a filter on "hardware modules" it will look like next image.

If I am pressing "See All" I can choose between "list view" and "tree view".

Is it possible that the first filter which is shown at the right side of sharepoint has the tree view?

Additional question to tree view.

If i choose a level one term like above, why are not the level two terms automatically chosen?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Heiduk,

Sorry for the inconvenience  caused at your end.

As per your description, we understand your requirement i.e. want to have the tree view for filtering the terms in the Document Library. To meet your requirement, we request you use the Open the filter pane instead of Filter by, by performing the action through Open the filter pane we can see the tree view and select the level two terms also for filtering.

Appreciate your understanding and stay safe 😊

Best Regards,

Chitrahaas

Hi

I hope you don't mind me adding to this?

My problem also has to do with the filter pane.

Up until today the default filter for the metadata column was the tree view - I now have to select 'see all' then change from List View to Tree View to be able to drill down.

The default is now List View (no idea why this has changed or how to get rid of it or it!)

I know I can change from List to Tree manually (See all) - but I don't want any unecessary additional steps. I also do not know what has actually changed. I am the only one working on this SharePoint Online site.

How can I return the filter pane to tree view only? List View is NOT required for this column.

Thanks

David

Hi David and Heiduk,

Previously during my test when I use the Open the filter pane by default it shows me the Tree view because of not many terms to get the See All option, after I do further tests at my end by using more terms and clicking on See All takes to the List view by default and we need to change manually to Tree view.

I tried to search more to find a possible way to set only tree view in the Modern experience but I couldn’t achieve it and I do understand the inconvenience caused by the design and apologies for it. Given the situation, we request you add your feedback in the SharePoint Online UserVoice as related team can take into consideration about it.

In addition, we can use the tree view directly in the Classic Experience by using the Metadata Navigation Settings. Set up metadata navigation for a list or library.

Thanks for your understanding and have a good day!!

Best Regards,
Chitrahaas

Hi David,

we have the same problems and want to ask if you or Heiduk have already created a UserVoice ticket?

I saw also, if something is selected in the filter pane tree view and you open it again, you don't see the selection in the tree view.

Thanks

Nicu
