While saving a PPTX file as PDF, i am getting this error "an error occured while powerpoint was saving file".

The PPT has charts linked with the excel sheets. It'll be great if you could help us in resolving this asap.

Thanks,

Have you first saved the file as a PPTX before saving as PDF?  It sounds as though you have, but better to be sure than to assume.

Also, how exactly are you saving as PDF?  Give us the exact steps your'e following, if you would.

Finally, try quitting PPT, powering down your computer for a few minutes, then start everything up and try again.

1. Yes...i have saved my PPTX,before saving PDF.

2. First open the PPTX file, now  click Office button->Save as->PDF or XPS, after this only we are getting the error.

Note:  Our PPTX contains many charts linked with MS Excel 2007, If we paste the charts as picture we are able to convert PPTX to PDF. But when we directly link the charts ,it showing the error.

Thanks for the additional information.  So more questions:

Does this happen with all presentations that include linked charts or just some, and if the latter, can you delete slides from a copy of the presentation to isolate just some charts that cause the problem (or does ANY slide with a chart cause it)?

Do you have a Windows-approved printer driver installed locally and set as default?  I realize this seems pretty far-fetched, but NOT having one can cause all sorts of strange problems, so it's a good starting point for nearly any kind of troubleshooting in PPT.

Have you tried round-tripping the presesentation and converting the round-tripped version?

I was having a similar problem (I couldn't even save in PPTX) but I isolated the action that was causing it.  I had to recreate my whole document so this time I saved after every action.

- I had a one page document with multiple tables

- I wanted to increase the font size in one table but I was constrained by margins.  I set all the cell margins to 0.  Before I changed the font size, I couldn't save.

- Same issue when I tried to copy this no-margin table from my un-savable document to the new one.

I don't quite follow the sequence of events or understand whether it's reproducible, Zach.

Can you repro this with a new presentation with one new table?  If so, please do post the steps.

Thanks!

I have a similar issue too. A pptx slide with two tables. It will not save. I made a new pptx document and copy/pasted each slide one at a time and saved. It would not save after I pasted the slide with 2 tables.
