"Windows Security" pop up is missing username/password boxes.

I have an issue that seams to be propagating through out my clients recently.  When users create new outlook profiles they are presented with a credential box that is missing any data entry points. This is happening with both Windows 7 and Windows 8.

The pop up is Titled "Windows Security",

Says in text "Mail Application"

and then has "Connecting to <email address>",

then has an underline and an ok and cancel buttons.

When it should have a data entry box for a password using a default <email address> username, and the option to enter a new username/password.  That particular portion is missing.  And it only happens during the configuration by autodiscover attempt.  Manual configuration works, and it is happening on both windows 7 and office 2010 and windows 8 and office 2013.

Hi Nuanil,

As I understand when you create a new profile and configure an email account the options to enter the email address and password are missing.

I would need more information on the issue:

1. Are the systems on network or domain?

2. What type of email account are you trying to configure in Outlook (POP, IMAP, MAPI or Exchange)?

Follow the steps mentioned below and check:

Step 1: Boot the system in clean boot and check:

Clean boot is performed to disable all startup programs and 3rd party services on the machine and check if they are conflicting with the Office program.

Refer to the link mentioned to boot the system in clean boot:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After checking in clean boot ensure to reboot the system in normal mode which is explained in the same article.

If Outlook works fine in clean boot then follow the complete article, perform advanced clean boot to check which program is causing the conflict. Once you have found the problem program, contact appropriate technical support team to update the program.

Step 2: Repair Office 2010 installation:

Refer the link mentioned to repair Office 2010 installation:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word-help/repair-or-remove-office-2010-HA010357402.aspx

If you are working on domain or on network then you may also post your query in the forum link mentioned for better suggestions:

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/home

I hope the above suggestion help. Let us know if you need any further assistance.

Thank you.

Neither of those solutions worked.  Went so far as to perform a clean install of Windows 7 and Office 2010 and it still occurs.

Hi Shazrin,

Your Guess could be correct.
Lets call your local network is Acer and client network as Petronas.

Outlook (Under Acer network) when is connected/configured under Petronas' network may need network authentication to connect to your local Acer network.

I suggest you to try enter client's network credentials in the outlook security window.
Do not forget the domain of your client network.

Please do not feel annoyed, as a last time it would then ask for your local network credentials (Actual Outlook credentials for the last time once it authenticates to use client network).

I am only hoping that this may work out and would want you to try.

Good luck,
Tharun.
