Receiving Delivery Failure Notices when sending email to *** Email address is removed for privacy *** or @yahoo.com

I have Office 2010, including Outlook 2010, installed on my Windows 8.1 computer.  When I try to  send emails through Outlook 2010 to anyone with an AOL email account or a Yahoo email account, those emails bounce back with a Delivery Failure notice.  This only happens with @aol or @yahoo addresses.  Emails to other addresses get through just fine.  Can anyone offer me a solution to this problem.  I would really appreciate your assistance.  Thanks.

*** Email address is removed for privacy ***

Would it be possible for you to post one of these delivery failure reports word for word, exactly as it appears to you?  Delivery Failure messages usually have information in them that indicates why they were sent.

Thanks, Hal, for your timely reply.  Here's one failure message that included two attachments, which I've copied below the email:

This message was created automatically by the mail system (ecelerity).

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

*** Email address is removed for privacy *** (reading confirmation): 521 5.2.1 :  (DMARC) This

message failed DMARC Evaluation for an AOL Domain. For more

information please visit  http://postmaster-blog.aol.com/2014/04/22/aol-mail-updates-dmarc-pol

(I clicked on the above URL.  There's lots of information, but I don't see instructions for sending to *** Email address is removed for privacy ***)

These are the 2 attachments that came with the failure notice:

Hi Michael,

Let me assist you with the issue.

Before we proceed with the troubleshooting I need more details:

Does this issue occur when you send emails to AOL and Yahoo account using your webmail?

How is the email account setup (POP3/IMAP/MAPI or Exchange)?

Provide more details to assist you better.

Meanwhile, let us open Outlook in its application safe following the steps below:

Hold the Windows key and press R, type outlook /safe (note there is a space between outlook and /).

If the application works fine safe mode, try disabling the add ins for the application and check the result,

Click the File tab.

Go to Options.

Click Add-ins.

Clear all the options.

If the issue persists, then you may create new Outlook profile following the steps from the article below:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829918

Let us know the details and hope the suggestions provided were helpful.

Thank you.

The messages are a little hard to interpret due to the removal of the actual email addresses, however, it originates from the receiving server at cdptpa-oedge02.mail.rr.com and it says that the email you sent represents itself as having come from an AOL sending server, but fails to pass muster as actually coming from an AOL server, so it can't be delivered.  This is something AOL came up with;  that "policy to reject" page from the link says to the world that a genuine AOL message will be composed in a fashion that will pass this DMARC test and any mail that says it came from AOL that does not pass the test should be rejected.

What email service are you with?  If you're email is with AOL, then they are likely the folks to talk to.

The test that Aravinda suggests is VERY important to try.  If you can successfully send to this RoadRunner address using webmail instead of Outlook, then something between Outlook and your email server is the culprit; this "something" is very often an Anti Virus/Spam application like Norton or McAfee that has an email scanner. Starting Outlook in Safe Mode will eliminate such a scanner and all other add-ins, so this is an important test to try also.  Please let us know.

Hi Aravinda,

Thank you very much for your suggestions.

I opened Outlook in safe mode, disabled the add-ins, sent an email message to aol and yahoo accounts, and they sent delivery failure notices again.

I created a new Outlook profile, and that didn't solve the problem.

Here are the details you asked for:

My Outlook account is a pop3 account.  Emails are delivered to my Time Warner RoadRunner webmail account and then come to my Outlook account.

If you need any other information, please let me know.

Had the same problem, not sure of it's origin (it just started a couple of days ago...).

Added Sender to "Blocked Senders" List of Outlook (under Actions/Junk Email/Junk Email Options):

mailer-daemon@cdptpa-oedge*.*

The Wildcard "*.*" after the Senders "Name" should block inbound mail from ALL domains...

ALSO at Time Warner's Server for E-Mail (at http://webmail.roadrunner.com/)
Added Sender to the "Blocked Senders and Domains"
(under Settings/Allow and Block Messages options/Advanced Block senders):
cdptpa-oedge*@mail.rr.com

The Wildcard "*" for Time Warner settings needs to be before the @mail server address...

Problem seems to be resolved -.-

Hal, I am having the same problem. Here is MAIL DELIVERY FAILURE I am receiving although I am not sending out any emails from that email address.  That is my Facebook email address and unfortunately, I cannot receive emails from FB. I cannot login to my FB account with that email address. So something is terribly wrong. I contacted my ISP and there is no virus on my computer but they are checking their server. In the meantime, I cannot change my password to get into my business FB account to post to my fans. Terrible. I've tried everything to no avail.  Any suggestions?

NOTE:  the from and the to fields on the below message - BTW I am on an iMac
