Outlook 2016 does not display images

I have an issue where Outlook 2016 (part of Office 365 under Windows 10 Home), stops displaying images in emails.

This is nothing to do with spam or blocked sites - after operating normally for a time, maybe a day or so, emails from trusted senders do not show images and pictures - just a placeholder red x in their place.

If I close Outlook and restart it, the images are correctly displayed.

I am currently on build 16.0.7531.1003 32-bit.

Hi Dave,

To help fix this issue, you can follow the steps below:

  1. In Internet Explorer, go to Internet Options, then select Advanced.
  2. Under Security, look for Do not save encrypted files to disk.
  3. Remove the check mark for this setting and click Apply.
  4. Restart Outlook.

But, the check mark is already removed from this option.

Although, to be pedantic, the title of the option on my PC refers to pages on disk rather than files on disk.

Your suggestion on 6 December that I follow the resolution provided by Ross Williamson is simply a restatement of the solution offered in this thread on 1 December

As I replied then, the check mark is, and always has been, blank.

But the problem remains.

(I have removed your 'Answered' mark - because my problem has not been resolved)

My box was checked as well.  I checked it, pressed apply then unchecked it and pressed apply and that fixed it (for now)

I have the exact same issue.  Drives me crazy.   close outlook and re-open it works fine in the exact same email.  Sometime all the text will not be visible too, but again a close of outlook and reopen fixes the issue.  Version 16.0.8201.2171 32bit

As the original poster of this item, I can say that I have not been troubled by it recently.

However, my version, 16.0.8431.2046 32 bit is quite a bit later than yours.
