New Archive Feature in Outlook 2016 not Appearing

Hi,

In a recent update Outlook 2016 received a new feature -

"Outlook 2016 includes a new feature called one-click archiving. This feature allows you to quickly move an item from your Inbox or another folder to an archive folder. An archived item (or items) remains accessible, but doesn't clutter your Inbox."

https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Archive-messages-in-Outlook-for-Windows-25f75777-3cdc-4c77-9783-5929c7b47028?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US

However, after updating Office I still can not see this new Archive button active in the Delete panel on the ribbon. I am running Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016 Version: 16.0.6769.2017. However, if I customize the ribbon and add the button manually to a new panel it is always greyed out.

Would anyone know how to get this button enabled?

Thanks,

Hi Robert,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Office Community.

Archive button is active if you select the particular folder. Click on any of the for example: deleted items folder then see if the achieve button is active and check if it helps.

Try the suggestions and let me know the status of the issue for further assistance.

Thank you.

I tried your suggestion by clicking on other folders, but the Archive button is still not appearing.

Any other thoughts?

I have just spent over 3 hrs with Microsoft online and it still has not been resolved. They reinstalled office completely, and created new profiles, but no result. After spending 3hrs on this I have resided with the fact of living without it; can't afford to spend anymore time on it.

I seem to recall that this feature was slow to appear on my 2016 systems, it suddenly appeared when I started MS Outlook one day, I wasn't aware that I had altered anything in my OL settings that could have enabled this feature, one day it wasn't available and the next it was........go figure :(
