Skype for Business Add-In crashing Outlook when calendar appointment is opened

Hello,

We have a couple of users whose Outlook will either crash or their calendar events will take an extremely long amount of time to open when the Skype for Business Add-On is enabled and a calendar event is opened. When Outlook is opened in Safe-Mode, the issue is not present. Outlook functions fine, the issue occurs just when the appointment is opened.

According to your description, as Outlook client works well in safe-mode, the cause of this issue might be related to add-ins in Outlook and you can disable or reinstall them (For reference: View, manage, and install add-ins in Office programs). In this way, you can clear all the checkbox in the list of add-ins by clicking Go… next to “COM add-ins” and close the Outlook client and restart it. Enable each add-in one at a time, restart the Outlook, and repeat the above procedure. If the changing view appears again, it will help you to determine which add-in is causing this problem.

Hi Jay,

We have narrowed down the issue to the Skype for Business add-in. We have reinstalled and rebooted Outlook, and the issue persists. Any ideas?

I'm working on this thread. could you please clarify if the mentioned Skype for Business add-in is the New Skype Meeting button? Please see:


If so, please keep updating the Outlook client to the latest one for the best usage and let us know the detailed Outlook version. Meanwhile, please login to the Skype for Business client using the same email address with Outlook client to try again.

Also, have you re-add this add-in via unchecking the Skype Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office 2016 and then checking it again?

If not, please tell us the more information about the Skype for Business add-in for further help.

Hi Rudy,

The Add-in is the New Skype Meeting' button. I have checked and re-added the add-in multiple times. Outlook version: 16.0.4549.1000

Thanks for your clarification.

 

The latest MSI-based Outlook client version is 16.0.4654.1000, please update it to check the issue:

Outlook and Outlook for Mac: Update File Versions

Meanwhile, if the issue persists, I have sent you normal UCAddin.dll file in private message, please replace your problematic add-in to try again. Note: you need the admin permission to move the add-in. And, please don't delete your UCAddin.dll file before the issue disappeared.
