Setting up Outlook 365 client for verizon.net (AOL) email

How do I set up Outlook 365 client on new Windows 10 Surface Pro 6  for Verizon.net email (AOL) per https://support.office.com/en-us/article/pop-and-imap-email-settings-for-outlook-8361e398-8af4-4e97-b147-6c6c4ac95353  ?

I cannot change the Server from imap.mail.yahoo.com to Server: imap.aol.com  or pop.aol.com  - it is grayed out. When I try to log in with these settings and my username and password, it just takes me back to the same screen with the Server grayed out.

Generally you would use auto setup where only the mail address & password is required which would then verify/add the mail account as an IMAP type

If you wish to use pop, you have to use the other settings option, and you cannot simply change the type of mail account from IMAP to Pop

Another option if you know the server settings is to add the account using the Mail Applet in the Control Panel.  Open the Windows Control Panel, search for Mail and open the Mail Applet.  From there you can add the account to the profile or if its already there you can change the settings for the account.

Why on my new Surface Pro 6  won’t Outlook 365 keep the needed settings for Verizon.net AOL customers per https://help.aol.com/articles/how-do-i-set-up-other-email-applications-to-send-and-receive-my-verizon-net-mail but keeps switching over to .mail.yahoo.com ones that DO NOT seem to work.  On my old Surface Pro 2 same Outlook it works and stays per below:

Incoming mail server: pop.verizon.net  Port: 995. Not pop.mail.yahoo.com

Outgoing Mail server: smtp.verizon.net  Port: 465. Not smtp.mail.yahoo.com

Found the issue with help of Microsoft phone support - Windows 10 has a preinstalled version of Office 365 that isn't the full featured version. So they are having me download the full Office 365, which is supposed to  let me enter all the info. And that explains too why I cannot see Main in Control Panel.

Thank you for sharing the update.  The preinstalled version is code named Office Centennial and as you noted does not have the Mail Applet feature.  Hopefully everything goes well once you have the Office Store version.
