Outlook 2019 not opening full contact card after windows 10 update

I did a windows update today (12/9/20) and now Outlook 2019 does not open full contact card when I put a name in the people search box like it did before.  Now it takes about 5 steps to get to the full contact card to view/edit it.  It worked fine before today's update.  I check the registry and it says legacy on in contact card.

Hi Jory,

Which version and build of Outlook are you using? See File, Office Account for the information.

You're using this key? I'll test it and see if they changed something to disable it.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\common\contactcard
DWORD: TurnOnLegacyGALDialog
Value: 1 (enable)

It should be 4 steps - type the name & press Enter, double click on name, then 3 dot and Edit Contact.

Hi Diane,

Thanks for your reply.  I am using Microsoft Office Home and Business 2019.  That key is what I see in my registry.  Until today, I was able to type a name in the people search box and when the person's name came up, I clicked on it and the full, editable contact window/box came up with that one click.  Now, it's doing what you are illustrating which requires extra steps to get to the same place I got to when just selecting the name from the people search.  Something changed.  Back when I had my old pc earlier this year with Outlook 2013 it used to be find contact.  My new PC with Outlook 2019, it changed to people search and it didn't go to the full editable contact window/card.  I did something to fix it and it was working perfectly since February 2020 until today.

By the way, I changed the registry to turn on legacygaldialog many months ago and the full contact editing form was appearing perfectly until today,

Are you getting this dialog now? That's what I'm getting with the key set. That's the legacy GAL dialog - but should only be used for GAL entries, not contacts. I'll check with my support contacts.

Yes, I'm getting that as of yesterday which I don't want and didn't get before yesterday.  Something made it change from full contact editing form when I did a people search to what your getting.  It's too cumbersome which is why I had changed it earlier this year with the "turn on legacy gal key" which then made it open the full contact editing form until yesterday.  Before yesterday, if I did a people search, the list of contact names came up, I chose the name and it opened the full contact editing form.  When I closed the form, the contact was closed and nothing else needed to  be done.  Now, I do a people search, click the name, then get the abbreviated form you show which I have to then click on actions, then click the 3 dots, then click on edit contacts to get to the full contact editing form.  Then when I close the full contact editing form, the abbreviated one is still there and I have to click to close it.  This is ridiculous that I have to go through the extra steps now and didn't ever have to before.

I rolled back one version and it's still failing - I want to figure out which build affected the key.

But what is the version / build? File > Office Account > About Outlook - I rolled back 2 builds and still have the gal dialog, not a contact.
