Where is Outlook.exe?

I'm new to Windows 10, am installing Office 365.  I can't get a shortcut to Outlook on the desktop, and when I browse for it while setting up a shortcut, it isn't in the list.  It IS on the bottom quicklink bar, and does work, but I'd like it on the desktop.  What is the file nest to get to Outlook.exe?

Hello Stilako,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

A quick question before we proceed.

Have you completed Office 365 installation? What do you mean by “quicklink bar”?

If you have completed the Office 365 installation, go to Start Menu > All apps > Right-Click on the Outlook 2016 and choose Open file location. Then, right-click on the Outlook.exe set up file and choose Create Shortcut. You can chose to create a shortcut in your desktop.

Hope this helps. If you have any other issues, feel free to contact us again.

Thank you.

Thanks for the help.  I've learned a few things, but others are still a work-in-progress.

I guess the proper name for the strip at the bottom is "taskbar".  I'm used to XL, and haven't picked up on all the terminology even for that.

When I clicked on the bottom left icon (used to be labelled "start" but now it isn't) I got the All Apps, and liked the alphabetic system left-click reveals. I was able to get Outlook 2016, and Open file location.

The strip across the top, which should be the file string, reads

This PC/Acer C:/ProgramData/Microsoft/Windows/StartMenu/Programs, and Outlook shows in the list.

However, when I use Create Shortcut, Browse for Files or Folders, I get

This PC/Acer C:/Program Files, which contains Microsoft Office 15, or

This PC/Acer C:/Program Files (X86), which contains Microsoft Office/Office 16

Neither directory has anything pertaining to Outlook.

It seems that file manager has a completely different structure to what appears across the top when I use "Open File Location".

In win 10, the search box, if you type ..........Outlook does that not reveal the desktop program and rt click>pin to?

Or all Programs, rt click Outlook, pin to?

PS keeping frequently used shortcuts on the desktop, you will likely find a bit of a pain, unless you have a multi-monitor set up

You may want to take a look at the free utility <StartMenu8> from IObit (it is also for W10 - they just never got around to changing the name) - when it comes to working with the desktop - can make things a lot faster especially when you're migrating from a legacy system to W10
