Unfortunately, you can't.  It'll automatically convert even numbers >= 8 hours to days.  Note that the internal value is always a number represented in minutes within the TotalWork field.  The form however shows "x days" for even numbers.  On a related note, the Tasks section of the Options page allows you to change the number of working hours per day, which will affect the calculation of hours/days for display.
