Google Sync causes Outlook to search for a Windows Mail profile,

Signed up for Google Calendar sync and it causes Outlook to search for a Windows Mail profile instead of opening Outlook 2010.  Very annoying because it takes about 4 attempts to dismiss the notice before Outlook 2010 will successfully open.  It also generates an error code 2006 for Google Sync.  Have tried running the compatibility troubleshooter and it recommends using an XP SP 2 but that doesn't seem to solve the problem.  Any suggestions?

Don't use compability mode - it makes things worse.

Is it asking to use a windows mail profile or bringing up the outlook choose profile dialog? See

typically, it is asking to use a windows mail profile although sometimes it will ask to select a profile.  I'll change the settings back to Win7 and see if that helps.  Thanks :)
