Windows 10 outlock 365 mail recycle / trash bin

How do I get mail I delete into a recycle bin, cant find any settings for a bin.

If I delete mail it's gone for good.

My outlook does not seen to have a recycle bin as such.

There is a trash file but cant get any mail to go in it, even if I set clean up rules.

The desktop recycle bin for all other programs works OK.

There is no recycle bin in MS Outlook, there will be a Trash and or Deleted depending on the type of mail account, pop, IMAP or?

Mail will go into the Trash (usually used by IMAP accounts) or Deleted items (Outlook's Default 'trash' folder).

Since you have Trash, you have an IMAP account. IMAP mail is marked for deletion and purged later - either when you change folders or when you hit the Purge command.

With these settings in Outlook 2010, deleted mail is moved to the Trash folder upon deletion, so I don't need to use the Purge button.

You posted to an Office 2010 group but mention Outlook 365 - so which version of Office/Outlook are you actually using? with what type of mail account?

Office 365 purchased & downloaded in March 2018 so presume the latest version.

Mail account is IMAP. (tried to use Pop3 but no one could get it to work).

Nothing goes into the Trash folder even with a clean up.

If mail is deleted it's gone for good.

The account is IMAP & has a trash folder, but no deleted mail goes in.

Even with a set clean up nothing goes in.

So the question is . How do you get deleted mail into the trash folder, there does not seem to be any setable flags you can set to do this.

Are your Contacts/Calendar in folders marked "This PC only" if so export them to a pst data file (within OL, File>Import/Export)

Then add the mail account back in using auto setup, where only the mail address & password is required, once verified allow to fully sync before deleting the old mail account

What view is set on the trash folder?

Go to File, Account Settings, open the account settings dialog. Double click on the account and click More Settings.  On the advanced tab, what are your settings for handling deleted items?
