Weblinks in Outlook for Mac not opening properly in Chrome

When I click on a web link in an email in Outlook for Mac, it has stopped opening correctly. Current behaviour is for Chrome (my default browser) to open another window (not a tab), then do nothing. If I copy and paste the link into the Chrome address bar, the webpage opens fine. This is new behaviour and started about a week ago. Help!

I'm running v15.40 Outlook for Mac.

Based on my experience, please reset the default browser to try again. Please also set the default browser to the Safari to check whether the browser cause this issue.
