OneNote for Windows 10: Links to local paths are not working

I have saved pkt files that I am working on for a class I am taking within a folder on my User profile on my local hard drive. I have all of my notes in OneNote and would like to link an image or text field from within my OneNote to the folder location on my computer where I save the pkt files. When I create the link and click on it to test, I receive the following error message: "Sorry, we couldn't open that link. its destination may have been moved or deleted, or you may no longer have access to it.".

I have tested with several different destination locations.

My machine is not pending any updates and the v of OneNote was installed yesterday with Office 365.

Are there some permissions setting that I am missing?

It's simple: OneNote for Windows 10 doesn't support local links (standard restriction for UWP).

Use OneNote 2016.

Hi dxGREENxb,

Thanks for reaching out! I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you.

If we run the OneNote app as an admin, are we able to access the links?

Also, does the issue start recently?

Have we tried repairing/uninstalling and repairing Office?

Best regards,
Arpan

@Arpan

You should have read my reply 😋

And:

- UWP Apps cannot be run as Admin

- it never worked

- repair, reset, re-install is useless
