OneDrive for business still pointing to old tenant

Hi,

We've migrated OneDrive for one of our Office365 customers from one tenant to another. When he syncs his OneDrive on any machine other than his own, his OneDrive syncs fine for his new tenant. However, when he tries to sync his OneDrive on his machine, it still points to his old tenant.

When he tries to sync ODFB on his machine, it shows synced but the folder name is still of his old tenant which should not be the case. This issue is not occurring on any other machine.

We've tried clearing ODFB cache, credential cache from credential manager for old tenant, killing ODFB process completely and then starting it but nothing seems to work. It always keeps coming back to his old tenant's OneDrive folder.

Would appreciate any help.

Hi Prabhat,

You may let the user try following on the affected machine to check the outcome:

1.Quit OneDrive sync client.

2.Press Win + R to open the Run window, then enter Regedit to open Registry Editor.

3.Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > OneDrive > Accounts.

4.In Accounts folder, click Business one by one to find the account using the old tenant and delete it.

5.Then try syncing OneDrive for business again to check the outcome.

Note: Before you modify the registry, back up the registry for restoration  in case problems occur.

WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Edit at your own risk.

If issue persists, we'd like to confirm the following information:

1.How does the user sync his OneDrive on his machine? Via going to OneDrive for business on the web then click the Sync button in the ribbon?

Or via firstly opening the OneDrive sync client on his machine, then sign in his new OneDrive account and set up OneDrive for business?

2.You mentioned "it shows synced but the folder name is still of his old tenant which should not be the case", do you mean that OneDrive sync folder name "OneDrive - Organization Name" still shows his old organization name while the content in sync folder is correct(new OneDrive for business content)?

Or do both the organization name and synced content show from the old tenant?

3.For other machines which don't have the issue, is it the first time the user syncs OneDrive files on them?

4.The version of the OneDrive sync client.

Best Regards,

Tina
