Can't change O365 group from public to private (I am listed as an owner)

Hello,

A while ago, we created an Office365 group to test things on.  We are still using it currently.  It is listed as a public group and the option to make it private is grayed out from being able to be used.  How can I look into getting this set to be a private group?  I would appreciate assistance on this issue.

Hi ProprietaryShackles,

Please check via the following ways to verify if the option is available:
1. Via Outlook (For steps, see the article below)
https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Make-Office-365-groups-public-or-private-c0a991b3-9c56-48b8-bf0f-05530f836b1b
2. Via SharePoint Group site page.
    Open your group site in SharePoint (The Url should be look like https://<tenant>.sharepoint.com/sites/<groupname> ) > Click Gear icon on right top side > Site Information > Find the Privacy settings.
