I can't sign in to my Office 365 accounts

I'm our office's Office 365 global admin. I couldn't get into my OneDrive. I signed into the portal, and could open OneDrive docs in Word Online, but not on Word app on my workstation. My workstation has one of the authorized installs. I uninstalled then reinstalled Office. When I try to sign into Word/Excel/ etc. I give my email address then a screen flashes and goes away with no change. Just started doing this this morning. WTF?

download this one to activate your office apps.

This is also on your office 365 tenant.

Hi Doug,

We'd like to confirm if you are using Windows or Mac.

If you are using Windows, you can try the following steps to remove Windows credentials to check if it helps.

Go to Control Panel>User Account>Credential Manager>Windows Credentials>Remove all credentials which are related to MicrosoftOffice16_Data and OneDrive Cache Credential Business-Business.

Here are screenshots for your reference:

If you are using Mac, you can try to remove keychains with the steps below:

1.Go to Finder>Applications>Utilities>Keychain Access and remove the following password entries:

Microsoft Office Identities Cache 2

Microsoft Office Identities Settings 2

2.Search for all occurrences of ADAL in the keychain and remove all those entries if present.

Then check if you can sign in Office.

If above doesn't help, we'd like to confirm the following information for troubleshooting:

1.Regarding "I signed into the portal, and could open OneDrive docs in Word Online, but not on Word app on my workstation."

Did you open the Word documents online> then click Edit Document>Edit in Word  ?

2.Regarding "When I try to sign into Word/Excel/ etc. I give my email address then a screen flashes and goes away with no change. "

Please provide your detailed information.

3.For " I couldn't get into my OneDrive", do you mean that you failed signing in to OneDrive sync client?

Please provide your OneDrive version.

4.Does the issue happen to other people in your company?

5.Please change another computer/Mac, then check if the issue persists.

6.Detailed Office version.

For Windows, you can check it via File>Account>Product Information/

For Mac, you can check it via Word>About Word.

Thanks,

Tina

Microsoft help talked me through a complete uninstall (including registry changes) and reinstall. Still didn't help although the problem is now different.

Office apps now automatically login using my network ID (@xxxx.local) and when I try to switch or add my correct Office 365 it either won't let me (the screen briefly flashes a dialog box and then it disappears) or tells me my password is "wrong." I can log into the portal and admin centers fine.

The problem started happening when a new version was downloaded because when I opened an Office 365 app it brought up a new features box. New code must have broken something. Still looking for a fix.

Doug
