TEAMS Error message HELP

Why am I getting an error message for all my channels? 

This happens when I try to get notified for all messages in a channel. There are multiple team members receiving the same error message.

"Failed to follow channel Please try again."

Based on your description, I tried to reproduce the issue on my test machine. For your information, I was testing in the following environment:

  • iPad (5th generation)
  • Software Version: iOS 14.0.1
  • Teams Version: 2.0.23

In my Teams for Mobile, I went to Teams > selecting a specific team "Test_Team" > selecting a specific channel "General". In the General pane, I clicked the bell-shaped icon and selected "Notify me for All new messages in this channel". I've also selected "Notify me for Replies to my messages only" in order to turn off the previous selection. However, neither selection has led to the error message which you have encountered. 

Regarding your concern, may I suggest you try the following workarounds to see if they help.

1. Check the notification settings in both Teams app and your device settings to avoid conflicts. See Troubleshoot notifications for Teams mobile apps.

  • For Teams app, in Teams, please go to Menu > Notifications to check all the settings.
  • For your device settings, please go to Settings > Notifications > under NOTIFICATION STYLE, select Teams > make sure that Allow Notifications is enabled.

2. Go to Teams web app to see if the same issue exists. Also, kindly check Teams desktop client (for Windows/Mac). 

3. Update your Teams for Mobile. See Update Microsoft Teams.

4. Clear app data. In your Teams for mobile, please go to Settings > Data and storage > under Storage, select Clear app data.

5. Switch to another device.

6. Update your operating system to the latest version.

This is an issue on my iphone and other members also. Is there a way to send you a screen recording? This issue cant be unique to me. I really need to fix this issue is it seriously hindering operations.

I just tried this on ANOTHER iphone SAME issue !!!  Please we need help this is necessary for emergency operations for the FDNY Incident Management Team.

This makes absolutely no sense. Different phones all the same issue. Some channels you can follow and some you cant. The is across different teams. The problem came out of nowhere.  Deleted app and reinstalled no luck. We need help, please.
