OWA does not redirect from on-premises to O365 in Hybrid Exchange setup

Our customer as installed Exchange Hybrid Configuration Wizard and ran it successfully.  They are in "Modern Mode" and using "Full Hybrid" configuration.

Prior to running the HCW they had OWA successfully configured and published in their domain.  After running the HCW and migrating a couple users, these uses no longer can use the old OWA URL.  We are expecting the OWA configuration to redirect these uses to the O365 URL for OWA if the user is configured as an O365 User in Exchange o-premises.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be the problem or if we are mistaken and this feature is not supported?

Hello David,

Thanks for your private message. We are glad to hear that changing the CNAME record and OrganizationRelationship settings make everything works.

About your question "how to get past the notice from O365 that it is more efficient to use the direct URL?", in my opinion, this setting can't be changed. For your reference: Outlook on the web redirection in Hybrid configuration features. If possible, they can deploy the Single Sign On (SSO) to achieve it.

And seems that they can add the redirected new URL to favorites in the browser and then just click it next time which will pass the notice from O365.

Hope the above information helpful.

Regards,

Rudy
