Office 365 DLP Policies in Hybrid Exchange 2010 Environment

We are in the process of configuring Hybrid connectivity in our Exchange 2010 environment.

Is it possible to apply O365 DLP templates to outbound mail for users who's mailboxes live on-prem in Exchange 2010? Since we are in Exchange 2010, we do not have on-prem DLP as an option, so I am trying to determine if we can leverage O365 DLP.

I do not care about the user awareness or the mailtips component. I only need to evaluate outbound messages for compliance and then route messages to a third-party encryption service if DLP template content (such as HIPAA, PCI, etc) is found.

Hi Deeprx,

To enforce DLP (Data Loss Protection) for users hosted on an Exchange on-premise server, we need the Enterprise CAL licenses, no matter it’s a pure Exchange on-premise deployment or a hybrid deployment. The feature started with Exchange 2013. Lower Exchange versions such as Exchange 2010 are not supported.

It’s not feasible to leverage Office 365 DLP for on-premise users. Thank you for your understanding.

Thanks,

Brook
