Hello Lauren,
Provide more information to assist you better:
1) What do you mean by 'I have tried many times doing different things to activate it'?
2) Have you tried activating the Office suite over the telephone? If no, try activating the Office suite over the telephone following instructions mentioned in the following article and see if it helps:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/support/activate-office-2013-programs-HA102819770.aspx
You may also uninstall and reinstall the Office suite and then try activating it.
Reply if you need more assistance and I'll be happy to assist you further.
Thank You.

Hi,
I'm also having problem with activating my office 365.
I have followed all the instructions by key in the product key, redeem online ..then when it came up to the last step, by entering the Microsoft account... it kept going back to the instruction
"if you purchased..."
"if you received..."
"if you have product key..."
And this happened over and over again.
I don't know what to do, until I opened the control panel and fixed the office 365' program...
When I bought this HP laptop, I didn't see the card which contain the product key number... so I did try the free trial for a month. Then when it said I have to reactivate... I tried using the product key, which was I didn't use it earlier. Is it affecting the reactivate?
Any solutions for this?
Thank you.

Follow the instructions on the card, or do you mean you downloaded the trial version?
If that's the case reset your HP to factory settings, then follow the card instructions

I did follow the instruction in the card.
And on the last step of activation was 'finish activation' by signing in using my Microsoft account. I did that too, but again the note came out that my Microsoft account is not associated with this office product, and it said that I had to key in the product key if I already had one, which was I did it at the first time when I was activating it.
But (again) the same notification as I mentioned earlier came out.
